Hello all!

I have just install an openvz kernel, and installed with it an centos VPS ! I'm doing this, because I want to have oracle on it, so, I find a good tuto on this page :

http://wiki.openvz.org/Oracle_10g_VE

But unfortunatly, I have a problem at the beginning, when I run this command :
 vzyum 1001 install

I get this error ( warning ), but actually, it doesn't install anything in the VPS !!
Warning: Set default for centos-4-i386 OS template not found

So, before going to got only this error, I need first to modify some file to get vzyum working, this file :
/usr/share/vzpkg/functions

and need to edit this 2 variable :
VECFGDIR=/etc/vz

and
VZCFG=/etc/vz/1001.conf

1001 is the VPS ID of centos
and need to add this line :
 TEMPLATE=/vz/template/

For more information, in my /vz/template/cache/ , there is two template :
centos-4-i386-default.tar.gz
gentoo-20060317-i686-stage3.tar.gz

and in the dir /vz/template/ , I have got also an centos dir , which was build with :
yum-cache-centos-4-i386.tar
from openvz.org

Can anyone help me please ??

IF someone else, install oracle with an other distro instead of centos, I'll take it !!

Thanks a lot.

Do you have vztmpl-centos-4 rpm installed? I.e. what does
rpm -qa vztmpl\*

shows?

I'm not using a rpm based distribution Linux [ gentoo ]! But I will try to add rpm command if it is possible on gentoo, and tell you what it is saying !!

Oh, in that case you'd be better of installing yum inside your CentOS VE and using it.

I did the command that you request, but it gives me nothing !!
So, I install a rpm command, and try to install these rpm :

vztmpl-centos-4-2.0-2.i386.rpm
I get this message :
warning: vztmpl-centos-4-2.0-2.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID a7a1d4b6
error: Failed dependencies:
        /bin/bash is needed by vztmpl-centos-4-2.0-2.i386
        /bin/sh is needed by vztmpl-centos-4-2.0-2.i386
        vzpkg >= 2.7.0-18 is needed by vztmpl-centos-4-2.0-2.i386
        vzrpm43 is needed by vztmpl-centos-4-2.0-2.i386
        vzrpm43-python is needed by vztmpl-centos-4-2.0-2.i386
        /vz/template/centos/4/i386 is needed by vztmpl-centos-4-2.0-2.i386

and with this one, vztmpl-centos-4-2.0-2.src.rpm, this message :
warning: vztmpl-centos-4-2.0-2.src.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID a7a1d4b6
   1:vztmpl-centos-4 warning: user kir does not exist - using root
warning: group kir does not exist - using root
########################################### [100%]

and nothing more appended !!

any idea ?

Hi. The bottom line is vzyum was not designed to run in gentoo. Gentoo has no concept of installed rpms. You could try to force the rpm installation and it should work, but if it doesn't people will just tell you forcing was a bad idea.

What I would do is enter the VE, and use yum to install whatever specific packages you need. From inside the VE, your yum will function with a proper rpm program and rpm database.
