Hi,

Our Dell server has 4Gb RAM installed and when it is booted using the Centos kernel (2.6.9-42.0.10.ELsmp) it displays this from /proc/meminfo:

MemTotal: 4147184 kB
MemFree: 4066004 kB
Buffers: 8888 kB
Cached: 28812 kB
SwapCached: 0 kB
Active: 29872 kB
Inactive: 19100 kB
HighTotal: 3276544 kB
HighFree: 3228544 kB
LowTotal: 870640 kB
LowFree: 837460 kB
SwapTotal: 8385920 kB
SwapFree: 8385920 kB
Dirty: 196 kB
Writeback: 0 kB
Mapped: 16412 kB

CommitLimit: 10459512 kB
Committed_AS: 49628 kB

VmallocUsed: 6252 kB
VmallocChunk: 99880 kB
HugePages_Total: 0
HugePages_Free: 0
Hugepagesize: 2048 kB

When the server is booted using the OpenVZ kernel (2.6.9-023stab040.1-smp) it seems to only use ~3Gb RAM.

MemTotal: 3100996 kB
MemFree: 3019544 kB
Buffers: 8384 kB
Cached: 28744 kB
SwapCached: 0 kB

Committed_AS: 43704 kB
PageTables: 748 kB
VmallocTotal: 106488 kB
VmallocUsed: 16228 kB
VmallocChunk: 89980 kB

Is this what is expected or do I need to configure something differently?

Many thanks,
Steve

Thank you very much for the speedy response.

Using that kernel has solved the problem.

Thanks,
Steve
