Hi,

I want to have as few processes running on the hardware node as possible, but which can I safely remove? Or put another way, what are the minimum set of processes required to run OpenVZ?

EG: After (successfully) installing OpenVZ and creating a few VPS's I have the following processes still running on the HN and am wondering if it's safe to disable/uninstall them:

/sbin/udevd -d
dbus-daemon --system
/usr/sbin/acpid
sendmail
hald

I've already disabled some I beleive are safe not to run, such as: smartd, xinetd, atd, gpm

Thanks,
Chris

Hello,

IMHO, you can also stop sendmail. Other daemons are hardware-related, so better to keep them in working state.
