My ovz Node crashed tonight, logging this message:

Jan 27 21:36:48 vn1 kernel: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 00010014

Jan 27 21:36:48 vn1 kernel: EIP is at sim_getattr+0x7c/0xc0 [simfs]

ovz is 2.6.8-022stab061-up built with 2.6.8 vanilla sources and ovz 061 combined patch (iptables quota support added too). I could not reproduce the error so far, maybe a simfs error?

Maybe you have same thing

Anyway, last kernel is 022stab064, you should upgrade.

yeah, i wanted to upgrade, but as filed in bug 96 on bugzilla there are several compiling problems after patching the vanilla kernel :=)

Well, I used it, and I has no problem with complation. Smile

You can try to patch kernel-sources, compile it, and if...
then rollback.

(patch -R, etc.)

I don't know if it happens to everyone, or that maybe I just have a specific configuration that may be causing some sort of contention. The new patch is worth a try. If it doesn't work for you as well, at least maybe you can add some information to Bugzilla that would help them or us narrow down the problem.

atomic,
is it custom kernel built by you?
Then we definetely need full log and vmlinux from you. Otherwise we won't be able to resolve it.

That bug 96 was fixed, so you might want to give that a shot as well.
