Just curious. There's a lot of talk about Linux KVM virtualization and I'm wondering what the relationship to OpenVZ is. Does it mean that the Kernel will contain more virtualization friendly code so that the patch is reduced or is this something entirely different?

It is entirely different. It is more close to Xen, than OpenVZ.
