i'm trying to figure out how kmemsize works

suppose i enter

vzctl set 101 --kmemsize 268435456:268437000

does this mean i give the VE a base of 268435456 bytes (i.e.: 256 megabytes) guaranteed?

yes, I read that prior to posting as I know that reading the manual is a must.

I'm just unsure, if it means that i'm supposed to measure 256 mb in chunks of 50 kilobytes or just measure in bytes.

I even tried vzmemcheck -v but that's not making much sense to me (yet)

Hello,

Yes, kmemsize is measured in bytes, so if you set kmemsize limit to 268435456, it means that kmemsize is limited to 256Mb.

Sorry, if I misunderstood you question...

HTH,
Vasily
